Many tech companies make heavy use of a chat app called Slack. We use Slack at LearningFuze for all of our coursework, so it's a key part of the setup process.

Get the app 💻

First, download the Slack desktop application. Even though you can use the Slack web app, it's not very convenient and notifications can get lost, so install the desktop application.

Download and install Slack from their official downloads page.

Once Slack is installed on your machine, open it and sign into the LearningFuze team.

Choose a proper profile image 🧑‍💻

We need to get to know you better! Be sure your Slack profile picture clearly shows your face so that the instructors can learn your name 😄.

Here are a few example pictures. One of them is very cute. One of them is very funny (if you are a programmer). One of them is what we're looking for 😂.

Choose a good photo

Of course, you don't need a professional head shot, a simple selfie is good enough. We just want to put a face to the name!

Enter your full name

To change your name and profile picture, follow these steps:

  1. Click your user icon in the upper-right corner of the Slack application and click Edit profile.
  2. Make sure to use your full name and a clear picture of yourself.
  3. Hit Save Changes when you're done!

Sign into the iOS or Android App 📱

In professional technical work, communication is key! Sometimes things happen and you aren't able to get to a computer. The same goes for your classes at LearningFuze. It's important to be able to message us in case you can't make it to class due to an emergency.

  1. Find Slack in the Apple App store or the Google Play store.
  2. Install Slack on your phone.
  3. Sign into the LearningFuze team.
